It's worse now. That attorney would go to the courthouse and not find any property information on a covered public official. It just won't be there, or there will be a bunch of redacted critical information such as property location. They wouldn't know what they were certifying. They are not controlling who gets to see it. They just want to hide it. Thus, removing the real reason for a Registry of Deeds and Mortgages which is Public Notice. It forces all property transactions by these officials into the closet. While that may protect the public official from undesirables, it also hides any undesirable transactions of those public officials from public view.
