On Monday, it appears that Cott Systems was the victim of a cyber attack. Recorder's sites (at least, the access to records) are down with no estimated time for services to be restored. Last evening, Cott provided an update indicating that they have notified the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. It looks like they have identified "this particular group of criminals who operate worldwide."
Cott's statement reads, in part:
We are working 24 x 7 with the forensic specialists to review all affected systems. While this is being completed, they are also working with us to identify ways to securely rebuild processes and restore functionality.
There are many steps involved in the recovery from this cyber-attack. At this time, we are not able to give you a date when we will be fully operational or when connectivity and all of your services will be restored. You will be kept informed by a daily update.
Although it doesn't specify, this sounds like a ransomware attack. I hope they have a good disaster recovery plan in place and that they are able to restore everything soon.
If your counties are effected, please feel free to share any information you may have and let us know what counties are offline, for the time being.
Best,
Robert A. Franco
