Kasich ran his campaign on eliminating the state income tax-- that was the message he wanted everyone to hear. Now we see what he is actually delivering on that promise-- a Frankenstein tax plan where the income tax still exists and lots of people are newly burdened with administering a sales tax.
This plan will be just another failure for Kasich, I predict. The more astute Republicans in the legislature have already gotten ahead of the curve and are distancing themselves from this plan, because they know that it is not going to be popular once the details become more well-known. I think the plan is probably already DOA, but people in service businesses who would get the shaft if this plan were passed ought to make their concerns well known to their reps just to be on the safe side.
