Absolutely not. This is yet another attempt to erase history. Yes, racial discrimination is a bleak chapter in this nation’s history, but if we don’t remember our mistakes, we won’t learn from them.
I agree with the county, The Recorder of Deeds is not the publisher, but merely a repository of the record. This would be like suing the local public library for failure to redact Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer because it contains the word “n****r”. It may not be a nice thing to say, but there’s no Constitutional right to not be offended.
