Constance, thank you for your post.  It's reaffirming to hear of others determination to set appropriate pricing, despite pressure to do otherwise.

Recently had experiences with companies requesting pricing, then disappearing when I offered what I considered reasonable rates for bulk orders.   In more than one instance, I had seen comments in this very forum praising these companies for their good practices.   

As an independent abstractor, I cannot afford to give my work away for free.  It'd be great if others didn't devalue their work, so that the standard was lowered for all of us.
