Very interesting article, Leigh.  I have done some eminent domain work, and in my opinion this is all the fault of the government.  Sure, the easements are necessary and the dunes should be built.  However, I do not approve of the shaming tactic in an attempt to get them for nothing.

I believe that the dunes will negatively impact the property value of the ocean-front property owners.  They should not be required to grant the easements for no consideration.  Eminent domain provides a process by which the easement rights can be appropriated.  The government should have began that process long ago.  They should appropriate the easements, and pay "just compensation" as the Constitution requires.
