here in Louisiana it's required that an attorney review the abstractors work and issue a title opinion or certificate letter for any type of loan. I get asked all the time about providing attorney opinion letters. I usually refer them to an attorney that I either do work for or that I know. I stay out of it. I've tried it before and the client either never wants to pay for the attorney certification or they get all upset at how much it costs. because here, it's very expensive. and being the middle man between the attorney and the client is a royal pain. but it's not uncommon here in LA.
