You should be charging for the work you DO, not what they ORDER. We always charge for the search we end up providing - regardless of how the client orders it. We get a lot of "current owners" with special instructions to "go back to a W.D. out of the family," or something similar. Those often require 2-owner, 3-owner, or a full search. We call the client and tell them that we have to search beyond the current owner to complete the search and we let them know that it will cost more.
