It's the dishonesty of some of these spammers that bothers me the most. Like when they present themselves as being from Texas, Ohio, Delaware or any US state when they are not. I was wondering if something might be done to verify their true address at the time they register or prevent them from entering false information. Wouldn't entering a phony address or other bogus contact information be a violation of SOT's terms of service?
A similar problem exists in your directory with many abstractors claiming to do work that isn't accessible to them in any practical way. In another directory I've seen the administrator seems to have found a solution that makes sense to me. The directory shows the distance from the abstractors location to the county they claim to work. Abstractors are listed nearest to farthest away from the county. This allows viewers to determine for themselves who they want to handle their work whether it's someone 30 miles, 200 miles or 10,000 miles away. I believe this is being done automatically using Google Maps or some other mapping and distance calculators. It was based on the address entered and not the location of the registrants ISP address.
Whatever you can do will be very much appreciated. You've worked to long and hard to create what I believe is the best abstractors site on the web to let spammers steal it from you.
