Rita, perhaps you could get a class action suit of some sort going.  Being in NY, you have the easiest access to local collections-specialists attorneys.  I've found from past experience that that's usually the best way to go:  find an attorney local to the deadbeat.  A LOT of us would join in and that will get an attorney's attention.
