We never had a problem with being paid, just with them reducing payment because they perceived something to be missing and unilaterally reduced the fee even though it was proven that everything was there. The problem is the constant re-addressing of non-existent issues that add more and more time to the search until it is not profitable. The need to break a search down into 3 parts and scan separately, constantly addressing rejects that are not and chasing money that they just deemed they didn't have to pay without an answer as to why. Bottom line is their little to no profit margin started to affect our ability to serve our other clients that were more profitable. I did their work before their portal was in operation and it was bad but not as bad, once they instituted their portal and decided that numerous other procedures had to be done with no extra compensation it became a nightmare!
Joel, I am glad you are having a great experience with them and wish you the best. Unfortunately I believe that the amount of dis-satisfied abstractors far surpasses the amount of happy ones, everyone has to take what info they can and make their best evaluation.
John, if you are unsure take the work on and judge for yourself. You hold the key to your business and no one else, if it works out it is great and if it doesn't you hold the power to say thank you but no thank you!
