Being a certificate holder is not a big deal.  I have other clients who require that.  (Keep in mind that I'm in several states and have a LOT of clients, so you may not have ever run into this before.)  It is merely a way for a company to find out automatically if your insurance has been canceled.  That's all it is used for and does no harm and does not allow them to get to any of your information.  It's just a way of telling the insurance company "Please tell us if they lose their insurance."
