I've got to be licensed in my state and had to have a criminal background check in order for the State to issue the license.

That should be sufficient in any state where you hold a license.  Now that several states are talking about licensing requirements for Abstractors/Searchers, it should be a non-issue.

And, you can pull your own background check for about $10 online that should meet anyone's needs.  

Before I'd submit to this, I'd ask to see the criminal background check reports of EVERY organization/company you will be  working with in order to establish that their staff and management meets the requirements.  Can't be working with any riff raff, now can we?.  Tit for tat
