You are wise to use caution Kaylee when dealing with Altisource or any vendor that may provide your sensitive information to employees or contractors overseas where US laws may not apply.

In May 2013 I reported on an unsolicited letter I received an email from a former employee of Altisource offering to sell his database of 500 Altisource abstractors including information they provided at signup. This may have included the abstractors Social security numbers, Federal ID numbers and bank account numbers where Altisource made direct deposits.

The thread garnered quite a few responses from SOT members who had also received this email. It also includes a response from the email sender where he falsely claims to be from Texas and a response from Altisource vendor operations. Altisource promised to investigate but as far as I know no one ever heard the results of this investigation.

The thread certainly deserves a read for anyone before they hand over your most sensitive information to Altisource or any company that operates outside the US.
