I might only have $20 worth of copies on one title, and like today have $150 on another for the same client. I can't raise my title fee an an extra $150 dollars "just in case" I might have a lot of copies. Most only want to pay what the court house charges, Well.... I am not the court house and I should not have to pay out of pocket or lose money for doing a title. It is my toner, paper and time you are paying for. I cant raise my prices to compensate for travel time either! I can try, but most wont go for it. They want the quickest and cheapest turn around time, but don't want to figure in travel and expenses, therefore, copies will be made in my office.
One of the cities I do can be 10 or more dollars an hour to park. Some of the copies I need must be made by the clerk, and can take forever. I have spent several hours obtaining documents and at the end of the day already spent half of what I charged for the title.
I am not in this business to break even or work for free. I am not Walmart. If you see something cheaper in the courts, I can not match or beat the price and end up in the hole.
