Nils is very helpful and is not nasty. I think you are reading into what he responded rather than taking it at face value. What he is saying (and what I agree with) is that there has been SO much said on SOT about altisource, that doing a search on that name is the first thing you should do. If someone wants info about what kind of client they are, it's all there. Repeating afresh the same stories doesn't help anyone.
Yes, Abstractor Watchdog costs, but it is nominal and what's nice about it is that it's ANONYMOUS. Many of us are afraid of lawsuits! In fact, the owner of Abstractor Watchdog had to contend with saber rattling threats but persevered. Also, people will post new information regarding specific people to contact, new phone numbers, etc.
Due diligence on a client includes: SOT, Abstractor Watchdog, a CAREFUL reading of the new client's website (you can always spot a non-English speaker -- and I have several very nice Indian clients, but they don't try to hide that fact from me), and then take a look at where they supposedly have their LLC or corporation. Look at who owns the company, when they actually became a company, etc.
If anyone has any other recommendations, please post them.
