Years ago in Kansas that was the great debate.
The Kansas Department of Insurance would say abstractors (as long as that was all you did, no other title work) you did not have to be licensed.
However the Kansas Abstractors Association that oversees the Kansas Abstractors said that you did have to be licensed.
Better safe that sorry.
Unless your state is a reciprocal license with Kansas, you will need to take the test.
Some Kansas counties will actually stop you at the door and require you to show proof of being licensed in Kansas.
