@David it's the same in FL --- all you need to be is a homeowner, married or unmarried has nothing to do with getting an exemption & you are only allowed to file an exemption on your primary residence.
@Constance - For arguments sake according to your logic... a pedophile could marry a child or their child if they were both consenting because they would have equal rights (in some countries this is acceptable) ... a person could marry their animal because who are you to take away their "right" to do so....I could go further for arguments sake but will stop there
....so now we have been given the "right" for a man to marry another man and a woman to marry another woman.... we have given a "right" for people to become legal pot heads and we have decided to foot the bill for the lower income class to smoke "medical pot" for free (how nice)..... we have given a legal "right" for women to kill their babies for no reason at all...
... Personally I feel it is wrong for married person to pay less tax than single person & I feel it is wrong for the wealthy to pay more tax than the middle or lower class. Where I strongly disagree (call me a bigot, hater whatever) I do not believe in changing the institution of marriage defined as the union between one man & one woman. Until the mid 1970's homosexuality was considered a mental disorder but the Gay activists fought to have it removed as a mental disorder. The LGBT Community that controls most of Hollywood has done a wonderful job of manipulating the minds of people. You hear and see something on TV & in the movies long enough & you start to believe it. A man was not designed to marry & procreate with another man nor a woman with another woman. Do you now have the "right"... yes apparently so......... is it right?... No
