Florida offers homeowners up to $ 50,500 for a homestead exemption & 100% exemption for a person disabled. You are protected from non-mortgaged creditors from forcing you to sell you home to pay your debt as long as you fall into certain guidelines and the debt was not in the form of a mortgage or mechanics lien against the property..... however failure to pay the IRS will trump everything....
