Mr. Madden,
I truly don't understand your failure to acknowledge the value that your vendor adds to your process when s/he obtains your requested copies for you. What's "underhanded" about expecting to be fairly compensated for providing a service?
Expecting me to drive to a courthouse, pay for fuel, tolls, parking, etc., expend the time and effort required to make the copies and scan them into my system, AND expecting me to make a 30- to 45-day interest-free loan by advancing said copies "on spec" and "at cost" is the REAL ripoff, IMO. Would YOU agree to work for nothing?
If a customer refuses to pay more than what the county charges, I politely inform them that providing copies at cost is not a service that I offer. I am glad to complete their order without copies included.
Regards,
Scott Perry
