i appreciate your tips, but I wasn't doing a search. I was just fulfilling a document retrieval request. I charged them a reasonable fee for my services and what the county recorder's office would charge. Maybe I should charge more, but that would only have resulted in a higher unpaid bill. This is why I don't do document retrievals as a normal business product or take on clients out of state. The majority are either slow pays or no pays. There is next to no legal collections worth our while trying to pursue out of state clients. 

For those title vendors out of the state of which they want to contract title services, be a better professional client. If you want to engage in the business of not paying vendors not in your state, you could be bordering on interstate wire fraud criminal activity.
