I regularly prepare searches that contain thousands of copies. I specialize in oil and gas research in PA, and the client requires full copies of all documents (with the exception of Declarations of Pooling, blanket assignments, etc.). The search must go back to at least 1850, if possible, so that can mean a lot of copies! My copy bill can be several hundreds of dollars which I have to front at .50 per page in the Recorder's office and Register of Wills, and .25 per page in the Prothonotary's and Historical offices. I specialize in researching lands owned by railroads and the Comminwealth so pretty much every search I perform is lengthy.
