I get this everywhere. Title Examiners need to stand up since there is no association to stand up for us. Public Records are public records, we as Abstractors have a right at minimal cost.
Most states have laws that state Public Records should be available "at cost" but $2.00 a page is NOT at cost. Copier lease cost and paper DO NOT equal $2.00 per page or even $1.00 per page. We need to stand together outside the NAILTA, AAPL, IRRLA, etc., together to say this is ridiculous. We are independent abstractors who cant afford this nonsense, they set these prices after we show up in town.
But it will only change if we challenge them in court and stand together/.
