Tim, I understand your point, and I think it is very nice of you to speak up for Elaine like that (and by all means, do blame the owner). But at a certain point if someone A) doesn’t fix the problem or B) leave, they become part of the problem. As you said, Elaine is very nice and it was her personal assurances that things were changing in the company that lead us to ignore the bad-payer-postings here on SOT. Then the company didn’t change, and the same thing happened to us with non-payment. And this was already many months ago, so judging from the posts on SOT, both before and after our situation with RealMetrix, Elaine has had to see this happen to other absrtactors, both before and after us, but she is still there. So her reputation with abstractors should be tarnished if she is going to work at that company. She could salvage her reputation by A) pushing for reforms inside the company and getting the pay system straightened out, then paying all abstractors owed money, and doing a promotional campaign letting everyone know that the pay situation has been corrected at RealMetrix, or B) she could quit and get in touch with any abstractors who are owed money and give us information that would help us collect what we are owed. So she has options, she’s not a victim. She is choosing to stay there (and she may have very good reason to. I don’t know anything about her personal life, and I am not insisting that I would do anything any different. But if I decided that it was best for me to work in a company that regularly didn’t pay abstractors in a timely fashion, I would expect my reputation with abstractors to be tarnished). So if she is just going to go along with the system there and be a “good employee,” I don’t have any sympathy for her. I also don’t have any ill will for her either. And I think it was very gallant of you to post on her behalf, and I admire you for that.
