Respectfully it's not "Much ado about nothing", here's my speculation: if the value of the majority of the properties in a county or counties that an abstractor covers are somewhere between 50k to 100k one owner search may suffice and online search for them if available may suffice, hence, companies are outsourcing them for cheap at the expense of US title abstractors/researchers. Thus, if the majority of an abstractor/researchers' work is one owner search and their county/counties provide online title research and their clients don't give a damn about fellow Americans... then their livelihood is in danger and you can tell and feel it here at SoT as well. Of course my reasoning could be wrong since I'm not an abstractor nor such researcher myself.
