"Much ado about nothing"  The majority of counties that offer records online typically only go back 20-30 years.  That may work for a current owner search on a re-fi, but even then tax, maps, or other info may require a visit.  Those of us who work in counties with online records know what is and what isn't available and how to use it as another tool.  There are VERY FEW (if any) 40-60 year or commercial searches you can do online or with Title Plants.  Title Plant records do not usually contain marginal notes because they are not updated.  Civil and Probate records are probably NEVER going to be online, at least not in any of our lifetimes.  We may loose Current Owner searches, but we will not loose Full, Commercial or Mineral Searches....and that's fine by me....
