I am an examiner from Western Mass, from what I am told by a land surveyor who works in both Vermont and Mass is that the land records are kept in town or city halls. Town halls in rural communities are only open a few hours each week and some charge examiners and land surveyors by the hour to look at the records. It is tough to meet deadlines if you cannot get access to the records.
