Most of the work i get now involves things that can't be resolved on line.  Because of that, I charge a premium for what I do.  If a company wants to do title work in house and then send me to the County to pull documents i have to charge more for that.  Depending on travel, minimum fee for a copy is $50.00 plus copy cost.  even at that, i don't get paid for my time at a reasonable return.

I had hoped that the foreclosure boom would uncover enough problems caused by cheap searches that financial companies would go back to local title searchers.  Some have but many continue to roll the dice.  It takes longer than $8.00 worth of time just to verify the owner and address, much less to do an actual search.  

Been at this 25 years and it doesn't seem to get any better.  Some of my clients have had to close their practice.  

Better days are coming, or they better be!
