The problem is that a title commitment is only a small part of the business. Most companies are also closing agents (especially east of the Mississippi). They need a software package that can handle the Closing Disclosure/HUD-1, balance a file, disburse checks, etc. as well as producing a commitment and a policy. Most of the software packages that are available do all of this. SoftPro, Ramquest, Steamline, Title Express, all have been in the business for years. They are at the point of polishing existing commitment templates as part of their overall package. For example, all of these vendors have the capability of easily converting a commitment to a policy post-closing. Have you even considered the steps involved to do this conversion? Can you handle the different policy forms that can be generated from a single commitment?
I do not think I have ever met a title agent who bought their software package based on how the commitment was produced. They are usually more concerned with how it handles the escrow side.
