I feel your pain "frustrated". I am to the point where I don't even look for new clients anymore. It's simply not worth the aggravation. I also had to let go employees. It would be easier if researchers would work together and follow a guideline of sorts for pricing so these companies would not be able to gouge us the way they do. I actually lost a client years ago because I refused to use their forms. Just lost another one last month because another researcher offered to do the work for less.... jokes on them however. This particular client was late paying me constantly. I was literally chasing them for the money every single month. Sadly, haven't even thought about looking for a work to replace them. I also haven't seen any new researchers coming into our area in years. Word is getting out and no one wants to do it anymore. hmmm... wonder what the lenders will do then?
