I raised my fees back when Covid hit. I didn't ask, I just started to tell people things were more as we talked, or emailed, or as I did invoicing.  Quite honestly, nobody argued or got upset.  Even my autopay people, as they sent me a new order - I would call and have them change the rate.  I still have most of those clients, if not more.  Lots of people didn't want to do stuff (and even NOW, it is still that way), so then I would get those calls and that business.

Also my counties went online, and I STILL get a a ton of business.  People call me all the time wanting stuff completed.  I think going online made some people lazy, and I'm willing to go drive and do the work.  Yes I get document retrievals, and yes I know some of those are because people are doing stuff online.  But they are happy to pay my going rate, and it all adds up!  I cannot tell you the last time someone argued about what I charge, most are happy to pay to get it done!  I am grateful and happy with the work.  Also two of my counties offer people my information to do filings (which they also screen those calls and only give them to title companies or attorneys), so I get lots of those calls too - and sometimes doing a filing for someone leads to getting a new client (for title work).

I say go ahead and raise your fees.  It was such a non-issue, and I wished I had done it sooner.  I think in this day and age people with any sense KNOW you need to pay for services, and nothing is cheap anymore - especially when you cannot do it yourself.  Sorry if this is long, hope this give you a little insight!  Now is the time LOL!
