It's been $40 for the first page of a deed here in New Jersey for about 20 years.  Since then 10 of the 21 counties have added a $3.00 homeless fee and just this year comes a new mandated cover page (a unique form different in all 21 counties) which costs another $10.00 ($20.00 if you submit a deed without one).  And it's been a long time since I saw a one page deed.  Typical length these days is 4 pages, plus a capital gains tax form, perhaps an affidavit of consideration and the new cover page which makes 7.  Grand total in the 10 counties with a homeless fee is $103.00.  If an attorney like Mr. Franco starts adding pages, it will go up at $10.00 per page.  But that's a bargain compared to Philadelphia where it's $252.00 and a transfer tax of 4.1% split between buyer and seller.  But at least there, you can make your deeds as long as you like.
