MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, today announced that it is seeking public comment on the SMART Doc® V3 Security Instrument Specification. The 60-day public comment period will run through May 24, 2025.
The SMART Doc® V3 Verifiable Profile allows document data to travel with the PDF and then be automatically verified with the document image, providing assurance that loan documents and associated data are consistent, reliable, and unaltered. The new specification applies SMART Doc V3 Verifiable Profile functionality to the security instrument, further enabling the seamless exchange of security instrument data and documents between trading partners.
“The SMART Doc® V3 Security Instrument Specification is part of MISMO’s broader program to help increase SMART Doc® adoption of documents beyond the eNote by introducing sample specifications of frequently used, non-eNote, mortgage documents,” said MISMO Acting President Rick Hill.
The public comment period allows at least 60 days’ notice prior to final release to review and disclose any applicable Patent Rights (as defined by MISMO's 2018 Intellectual Property Rights Policy).
MISMO requests that any organization that may have any patent or patent applications, or other intellectual property rights that might be infringed upon by an organization that uses or is compliant with these proposed MISMO products to disclose them at this time in writing. All comments and disclosures are due by May 24, 2025, and should be directed to info@mismo.org.
