It's the same here in Virginia. We only get complicated or time consuming searches, or work that cant be done online. And there's constant pressure to lower your already ridiculously low fees. I had to let 3 employees go a couple years ago and have since had no need to hire any help. Our order count is down every year for the last few years.
It doesn't make sense to me. When I started freelancing companies were getting rid of in-house searchers, because it was cheaper to pay a freelancer. So with the cost of them paying a salary, paying for life insurance on all theses in-house searchers, plus the cost of signing up for each and every county's online records, how is it not cheaper to use a freelancer? (Other then outsourcing overseas)
