We have had this request also, but we won't do them. You are basically doing an INCOMPLETE Current Owner Search. You still have to track down the owner and pull the deeds, you still have to run the index for mortgages. This is the greatest part of the search... you are just ignoring "other" relevent items, like liens, taxes, court procedings, etc... Also, it takes about as long to complete because you have to copy everything.
We just tell them that the information they want is included in a Current Owner Search and they can disregard the other information if they choose. However, our product is a Current Owner and the fee is the same.
I realize that I may be in the minority on this, but this is how we handle those odd requests. I always wonder what they will do WHEN they have a claim because of some lien that they didn't ask for. I know I could pull the order and show that they only requested very limited information, but I don't want to get involved in the mess when it happens.
