Good morning Pamela,
the best way to enter the abstracting world is to get a couple years of one-on-one training as an employeed abstractor for a title company or a real estate attorney. That way you can have someone train you that is experienced in the business, has the time to spend with you, answer your questions and to check your work. This will help you avoid the pitfalls, learn what abstracting is all about, get you familiar with your courthouses and not burn any bridges with clients.
Good luck, Jay
