This is a great question to ask. Well let's see. My associate who is the owner of the company become a Realtor in 1996. In 1998 she became a loan officer and still kept her Real estate licence active. in 2000 she became the title manager for a Utility company. She managed and performed title abstracting/exmanination/title commitment/closings for right-of-way, railroads, commercials, and residentials for the utility company she worked for. In 2002 she opened her own title abstracting company and trained me as her partner. In May 2004 she opened her own title company (Bilingual). We now ran both company away from home. We have a staff of 15 people, and have over 50+ abstractors we give business to. We ask for their E & O and if they do not provide us with one, we let them know that we cannot do business with them for liability issues. We are always looking for abstractors with over 1 years of experience and we give them a trial test. If they pass, they can be a vendor for us.
We are licensed in 7 states, which we are kind of strict with the Abstractors we work with.
Now my partner, the owner of the company is going for her Phd in Real Estate through Madison University. She wants to be able to manage her own underwriting company for her title company.
I guess, you can say, we have goals.
Hope this helps.
