You are right, Robert. We have the available resources contained in the SOT membership. We have an available list of potential clients in the Hot List. This is enough to get the marketing effort started. The marketers would need to develop additional clients as time went on. Normally gathering this information would be a function that would need to be performed as a precursor to the marketing effort. I think the existence of these resources may reduce the cost of the marketing. It would seem to be a matter of connecting the services available on SOT with the title companies on the Hot List through market/sales. Right now I think it is a matter of getting the word out to everyone on SOT, and seeing if we can generate enough interest in the idea to make it financially feasible.
In recent months I have been reading the horror stories posted here about people losing business or being forced to reduce their fees. The situation is only going to get worse. Sitting around waiting for the roof to fall in is not a viable alternative. The searchers, appraisers, signing agents and even the attorneys need to become more aggressive in protecting what they have built for themselves.
We need to come forward with a positive plan for the future.
