These are all really great ideas and very positive input. It is good to see some optimistic feeling in light of all the discussion of out sourcing and loss of business to uninsured and inexperienced abstractors. I have noted some concern about these issues among participants on this board for several months now, and I think it is time that we try to do something to improve the business environment. I think that a lot of it is a matter of showing the title companies and lenders that putting pressure on the searchers to cut their prices results in cutting costs in the wrong place.
The quality of the search suffers, and as many of you have observed when the searcher is not insured there is nothing to satify the claim if there is a problem. It may be a matter of showing the title companies and lenders that there are other areas where costs can be cut more effectively, and I think that this is the area in which we need the marketers to present our case.
We are going to need wide scale participation from everyone listed on SOT in order to keep the buy in costs low. I think that everyone needs to understand that the buy in expense is an investment in each indiduals business in much the same way as they would spend money on computer equipment or advertising. I am looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion.
