With resect to collection problems, I would leave as much control in the hands of the searchers as possible. They are in the best position to know what they did in terms of work for a client. They are currently doing this. The LLC could terminate a title company if the membership has indicated there is a collection problem. The individual searchers could pursue whatever collection remedy they preferred...collection agency, small claims cout or arbitration.
The start up costs of the LLC or corporation would have to come from sales of stock or membership contributions to capital. What will it take to start up? I don't know. I would think it would be substantial. I think we need to determine how many peopele would be interested in doing this, how we are going to approach it for the best and fastest results and how we are going to effectuate it. We need lots of discussion on this, and the participation of a lot of SOT members in order to keep the individual costs as low as possible.
Taxation of the LLC or Sub chapter S corporation is filed on an annual basis, but it is generally an information return only.
I agree with you on establishing pricing. I think the way to approach it is to determine what prices we need, and then to turn it over to the marketers to find ways of acchieving that objective. Possibly we could take a lesson from the television industry. In terms of selling time on television the entire country is broken up into markets with cost efficiencies for reaching a desired audience. Perhaps something similar could be done here.
