Most of the municipalities in SE Wisconsin will provide you with current tax and assessment info over the phone, and there are several that have websites with free information as well. There was one village that wouldn't give us ANY information over the phone, except to verify the tax key number. They wanted us to physically go to the village hall, give them a $3 check and they would give us a copy of the tax bill. Needless to say, I don't have time in my day to go there, so I just put a note on the report that tax information wasn't available and put the treasurer's phone number down. Nobody ever called to complain about it, and the closer (or whoever is preparing the file for closing) always double checks the tax info we give them anyways...
