While I do echo your sentiments...and have equipment I would be more than happy to donate...I think it will be sometime before anyone from those areas will be needing those things. The fund is a great idea, and I will be more than happy to make a contribution.
On the other side of the coin, the whole situation on the Coast frightens me - for those who are stranded, homeless and helpless. I, like Scott, wonder where is the assistance? It appears as though our own government is the most disorganized mess ever. I am dismayed, not only at the lack of support and assistance from outside our country - but worse, at the lack of support and assistance from our own. I haven't heard our governor offer any National Guard. It is heartbreaking to see children, elderly and sick in the predicament they are in. If I knew it would help, I would pick up myself and go there. And thinking of the disaster - if it is this badly organized after knowing full well for days that the hurricane was coming - what kind of mess would happen if something of this magnitude happened in the heartland? or the West Coast? I think we need to go back to concentrating on our country's needs and helping other countries when we can. I am so disappointed with our government. It is a tragic, tragic situation and God Bless all of them....our thoughts and prayers are constantly with them.
