Judy,
I'm so happy it helped. If you want to help locally I would again recommend you go to the website for www.wbrz.com or to our local Lafayette station which is www.katc.com as both have specific requests for specific special needs of this area.
Remember, there is no way to send aid to New Orleans itself as they are trying to empty it out due to the nasty water as well as natural gas leaks which are causing fires in some parts of town. Local churches and public citizens are helping house and feed people as well as help NOW be giving rides to the library to get them access to email and computers, rides to cellphone locations that are giving free long distance phone calls and many other basic needs that aren't met by an emergency shelter.
You can also get a much more personal and in my opinion less sensationalized view of how we are coping with the mass evacuation and trying to absorb these populations in Baton Rouge and other area communities. (I especially like the wbrz site)
Let me know how else I can help.
Debbie
