Judy,
the governor of Louisiana did plea with the citizens to leave the city, many chose to stay and ride it out. Who is their right mind would stay when most of the city they live in is built 6 to 10 feet below sea level. Yes, some had no opportunity nor have the ability to leave, but if you had digital or satilite tv then you had the ability to leave.
The levies were designed to stand sever hurricanes, but these one exceded the designed levels. The people living in the area had the same warnings has the government and corporations that you are blaming, but they choose to stay. What happened to personal resposibility?
Moving military and supplies into the area prior to the storm would only increase the death toll and the loss of all the supplies.
The logistics to mount this size and kind of response usually can take up to 30 days. You are talking about tens of thousands of troops and hundreds of buses and trucks supplies trying to travel down roads that are underwater or don't exist anymore.
Yea, the media made it down in a day, BUT HOW MUCH WATER, FOOD, TRANSPORTATION AND ELECTRICITY DID THEY BRING FOR THE VICTIMS???
NOTHING!!!
So, before you decide that everything is the government's fault, you might taken into account how many days did it take for you to plan to have 50-100 people over to your house, so you could set up the beds and buy the food and get the clothes and arrange the transportation.
Once last note, yes I will be giving extra tommorrw at church for the victims of this NATURAL event, back to school for you, hurricanes are not caused by man, they have been happening for thousands and thousands of years and will continue to do so with our without man's present, (and who caused the last ice-age anyway...oh yea, of course it was man, we are to blame for everything and especially our government, oh by the way the government also caused solar flares and volcano's, but don't tell anyone, wink, wink) and our city will be accepting several thousand people from that area.
I pray for all those lost and misplaced during this time of need and hope others will look to support those who have lost and thank those who have provided.
Jay
