ok now ya'll remember I am from North Carolina where we do things a tad bit different from the rest of you.... I thought that notaries can only charge $2.00 to notarize a document. That was what it was years ago when I took the notary class but I didn't become a notary because it was more hassle than it was worth. My mother-in-law was a notary but she quit because for $2.00 it was no longer worth it for her to have strangers drive up in her driveway and request her services.
A few years ago, NC started allowing signing agents. I have not quite figured it out yet as to how to set yourself up as a signing agent but I understand that some abstractors are making from $125 to $225 per closing. Gladys, I would go around to all the lending places in Goldsboro such as American General, GMAC, and Alliance and talk to them. Find out how they do their closings and see if they will help get you started. You are in one of the friendliest towns in NC so someone in the lending industry will help you get established. My husband's family is from Mount Olive and Kinston. We are Graddy's there instead of Grady's. You know what I mean by that. Good luck. paralegaltechnologies@yahoo.com
