I look forward to the day when blacks return in greater numbers to the Republican Party. While the Republican Party generally does not support set-asides or large socialist type programs, it does offer the same foundation for success for them as it does any other race - the same opportunities for economic success. With that, the bar is not raised or lowered according to race.
George W. Bush nailed it a few years ago when he spkoe of "the soft biggotry of low expectations". I think the scars from the Jim Crow laws are still present and real. But I also believe the Democrats, in their quest for votes, inhibit the movement toward equal expectations and, thus, equal regard, among the races.
