I have done examinations in Va and MD, and MD is alot more difficult in getting a full picture on Judgment liens.  It really depends on what is expected in the particular state you are in.  In VA there is one judgment index for all county and state liens.  Not true in MD.  Judgments are broken down indiferent indexes as to Circuit court liens and District Court liens.  We always check liens in US District Court.  If bankruptcys are found there could be problems if the brankruptcy is open and active.  So be carefull.  There is a siteat www.pacer.psc.uscourts.gov/ that allows you to view the status of a bankruptcy for a small fee.  I think it id .08 per click.  Good luck.
