Fannie Mae was made aware of the issue and took the necessary steps to have the title agent change their methods. I can't say with certainty that there were "junk fees" but the consumer should never have been put into a position where she was made to find the truth from sources other than the "preferred title provider" .
We can only hope that in the very near future Fannie and Freddie will see the error of their ways in trying to have a 'cradle to grave" environment. The consumer suffers as a result and in the end we, the taxpaying "owners" of Fannie and Freddie pay the price.
