George, I suppose your entitled to do as you wish, your company your policies, it might even be a good way to weed out new clients that you think may not pay.
This particular discussion is about the federal regulations being imposed by the CFPB. As for the credit checks in relation to those regs, it appears that (for now at least) the credit checks will be reserved to those people that have access to trust/escrow accounts.
The feds will do as they please and there is very little we can do about it. Based on the amount of replies to my initial post it appears as if there is very little concern on behalf of many abstractors. I however prefer to err on the side of caution and am going to do everything within reason to be as prepared as possible. I dont want to be sitting on the sidlines trying to play catchup while the work is sent to someone else who is more prepared.
