LORIE LEHMAN's Blog

I've Moved
by LORIE LEHMAN | 2010/02/15 |

A place to chat about the day-to-day goings on in the title insurance world. Walk with me as I travel down a new road, with a new company, learning and growing all the way!

LORIE LEHMAN's Blog ::

After 23 years at the same title office, I have moved to what I believe are greener pastures! I will never forget my roots and the learning experiences I have encountered.

New beginnings... there's alot to be said there.... with that are the new challenges! Knocking on doors and cold calling were never my area of expertise! I love talking with people, listening to their challenges and day-to-day goings on. But to sell myself? I can no longer keep myself in my safe little box.... out on the open road I go! I'll tell every one who will listen about the do's & don'ts of Title Insurance and Settlement Services who will listen!!!

I am very confident in what I do at the closing table; I know my product, as well as the lender's requirements! I get very excited for the buyers moving to their new home... or get involved with those purchasing their first Pocono Vacaton Ski Palace! I put myself in their place and explain each doc in simple, easy-to-digest plain language! Seller's too! Where are they off to? A new beginning for them also?

So wish me luck in my new venture. These are trying times in the real estate/title industry, but together we can make it just a bit more pleasant for everyone involved!

We shall survive....

I can totally relate to your new endeavor, as I have been in the escrow world, out here in the wild, wild west for over 30 years, and now find myself out cold calling and finding new ways to build releationships and get what little business is out there in my door.

It can be exciting, especially when you see the fruits of your labor via NEW ESCROWS opening, finally from those new "cold call" clients you have been nuturing.  It can also be grueling, for us escrow officers who aren't used to having to step out of our comfort level behind our desks and the closing table to perform our magic, but I am up for the challenge and have many good years of escrow service in me!

Good luck to you in your new endeavor, those of us who can persist, accept and embrace the change, will survive....

Thanks for the good wishes

Thanks you Keanna and Kathleen for the positive words!  It's been almost a month now and I am very encouraged! I've lined up a few realtor friends/relationships and have 2 deals ready to close!

I really find the cold calling very challenging!  Just seems I can't find the right words to get myself started and keep the attention and interest going!   Any suggestions?

Thanks - Lorie

Right words

Hey Lorie,

I respect what you are doing.

The only thing I could suggest is surveying similar public or past publics. Ask them what was interesting to them and why. What worried them, added time, irked them, what were their concerns going into the venture, what are the key words that describe how it is that you helped them. I have never seen it to be ultimately successful for a group of people in a room to determine the buttons of their public. Most successful is going to the public directly and finding out what they want so that you can market it properly.

I hope that this helps. It sounds like you have the guts and drive to take this far.

Best wishes!
